Gas exposure can also trigger depression, chest pain, loss of appetite, nose bleeds, and drowsiness. It’s critical that you turn of your gas and contact a service professional immediately if you suspect there is a gas leak on or near your property. Highly flammable gas combined with an open flame could cause a fire or explosion in your home. Whenever you need to install a new gas line for a furnace, fireplace, or stove, trust Atlas Plumbing to keep you, your family, and your home safe.
Henderson Gas Leak Detection & Repair
Do you have a gas leak? One of the common indications is a rotten egg odor. If the smell is faint, you may turn off the gas valve of the leaking appliance. You may also shut off the main gas valve, which is usually located near your gas meter. However, if the smell of gas is strong, we recommend you leave the premises. Do not turn on any appliances and make sure there are no open flames that could cause combustion. At a safe distance, call 911.
Other signs of a gas leak include:
- Abnormally high gas bills
- A hissing sound near the gas line
- Dead houseplants
- Orange or yellow flames when using a gas appliance
Gas leaks can occur inside and outside of the home. If the line is past your meter, there may be an issue with the municipal line. In this case, the city is responsible to fix the leak. You should still place a call to notify the authorities of the situation. If the leak occurs past your gas meter, you are responsible for repairs and will need to reach out to a plumber.
